Cathy Winch

Cathy’s training as a dancer started as a young girl and included tap and jazz, with a focus in classical ballet.  In high school she studied with Gwen Bowen and performed regularly with the Premier Dance Arts Company in Denver, whose repertoire included all forms of dance.   While studying with George Tamal and Larry Boyette at The Ballet Arts Center in Denver, she was privileged to perform in the world premiere of “Pastorale” (Beethoven’s 6th Symphony) with the Denver Symphony Orchestra at Red Rocks Theater.  Later, she was selected as one of 12 people from nationwide auditions to participate in a pilot program of Theater Dance at Carnegie Mellon University directed by tap legend Paul Draper in Pittsburgh.  She further developed her skill in ballet while living in Pittsburgh through her studies with the Dance Masters (Edward Caton, Moiseyev Morovsky, Nicolas Petrov) at the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre’s School at Point Park College.  Returning to California, she danced with Producer/Director Dolores Terry in a production that spent 6 months in Japan.

Cathy started teaching dance over 40 years ago and loves using dance as a medium for sharing beauty, joy and the discipline of the art form.
